If you still wonder about watching this miniseries, just do it. What is 4 hours in your life? Just stop whatever you’re watching and go for it. You will witness this impressive and well performed miniseries including four episodes, each made in one-shot only.
This is sincerely a story that needed to be hear. This is intended for everyone: the child or the parent. This reminds how dangerous innocence and the dark faced of the world can be to a 13 year old child. And also how traumatic and terrifying it can be to be a parent to see what your child is capable to do, knowing you are the one who raised him. And because, unfortunately, it is also true that "𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒚𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. Being a parent has always meant being responsible of his child but nowadays, the parents aren’t the only guilty for their child’s behaviour, the social media are too (just like the school environment which has already been impactful for a long time).
[❗️SPOILERS❗️] About 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹, although I would have liked witnessing the trial and the sentence, I still believe that this was an amazing way of concluding Jamie’s story. I also wished we could have seen him during that last episode, since he is only present in two episodes out of the four. I do think a focus view of Jamie’s face, on the phone with his parents, would have been a great shot. But due to the one-shot episodes, I guess it wasn’t possible.
𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙊𝙛 𝘼 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 - 𝖠𝗎𝗋𝗈𝗋𝖺 was a perfect music choice to conclude this story by the way.
(I won’t do a characters or dynamics ranking since I believe liking the characters or not isn’t the point of this story.)

I am really impressed by his performance. This is the first time I get to witness it since I haven’t watched Band of Brothers yet, and this definitely made me excited to do so very soon.
I love that it wasn’t only about being able to perform believable emotions, it was also about performing the human state. How this can destroy anyone. Also, seeing a father figure crying over is family and even simply crying at all really is something I’m glad that they performed. I needed it, and this was beautiful.

What a surprising and majestic performance from that kid! Knowing it was his first big role is even more impressive. I was already impressed from 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭, and he was even better in 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟯. The way he raged and throw the chair. I went through a bunch of emotions (sadness, pity, fear,..) in a few minutes only and waw, one of my favourite performance ever from such a young actor, that’s for sure.

Due to the great acting, most of the actors have been able to make me cry a few times. Through the whole story, from 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭 in the police station when Jamie has to take his clothes off; we clearly see the facial expressions of his dad being protective, afraid, apprehensive, and so on; this is conveyed perfectly, without any words. And even before in the beginning of the episode when Jamie is in the police car and cry at the window. In every episode, there were at least one similar moment that was outstanding when it comes to convey emotions and affect the spectator. And it wasn’t only sadness, as I said before; fear, pity, anger and so on were also conveyed.

That one-shot episodes directive is one of the greatest way of filming I’ve ever witnessed in all cinema. Sincerely an absolutely amazing choice from Philip Barantini and a great first creation from Stephen Graham.
