I can’t be the only one who thinks Ellie is super annoying in this adaptation of the story…

The pacing is pretty ass it’s both rushed and dragged at the same time. They gloss over plot points rapidly but linger on action sequences for too long it’s not good. The dialogue is very on the nose and doesn’t trust the audience at all there’s also some pretty wack line deliveries.

Pedro Pascal and Cathrine O’Hara’s scene was fantastic extremely well acted and well written.

Also they are giving WAYYY too much information about Abby it’s going to ruin the story structure of Part 2

Dina is getting more writing than in the game which is something to be intrigued with but it’s also kind of annoying because she’s taking away from the main character (Ellie) who is the worst part of the show as of now.

There’s also something to be said about Jessie and how his actor looks the part but can’t act the part and I LOVE Young Mazino but he brings no charisma to the role of Jessie like he had in the game i genuinely don’t care for him at all and he’s just there to bounce off of Ellie and Dina’s snarky attitude.

Worst episode in the show.

Really enjoyed every single Frank scene, Jon Bernthal is just so unbelievable, Deborah Ann Woll is also incredibly good in her limited time 😫

I liked the conclusion of everything, yeah it was a bit predictable but I don’t think that’s a bad thing

Set up a promising season 2 as well so excited for that

Oh my god, this drove me insane. Way too relatable. Some of y'all don't know how it feels to see right through someone's fake nice persona and to know what a cunt that person really is, while everyone else crawls up their ass. It really can make you feel like you losing your mind.

The overall message about bullying is also way too real, because no matter what you achieve or how much you change, it's something that will never really leave you.

I have absolutely nothing to say about this. The only pilot I’ve ever rated as a 5/5 and no diffs the second best pilot I’ve seen. This masterpiece is the type of masterpiece that shows have after 10+ episodes, not on the first fucking episode. I’ve never recalled that a pilot was close to making me cry SEVERAL TIMES. 85 minutes long and still amazingly consistent and with a GREAT amount of peaks from start to end.

The only issue I have with the episode is that some moments were convenient AS FUCK. Those scenes were insane either way, but I have to admit that the script lead quite easily towards those insane moments in a very convenient way. But besides those 2-3 scenes, the rest of the episode is pure class of writing. What’s even crazier is that there are at least 5-7 episodes that look even better than this.

What the fuck am I starting???

Its hereeee. All right I have thoughts thoughts thoughts. I've been reading a lot of people criticising this episode and I can understand them in some way. First of all, the last of us 2 is probably the most polarizing game of all time, for those who know it has some surprising decisions and the argument isn't liked by many, but I'm one of those who really enjoyed playing it and don't have that many problems with it (it still has).

As of this episode, it was obvious it was gonna be a slow introduction to the season. They had to set up Jackson, the town were Ellie and Joel were living for the past few years, and it had to introduce the new characters like Dina and Jesse. So the pacing wasn't an issue for me. In fact I enjoyed a lot of parts of this opener. My problem with it is how they introduced Abby's character. This was the main issue of almost everyone and I totally understand why. It's enough to say the ep sucks? Not for me, but it's definitely a big mistake of the writers. In what world did they think that showing Abby's intentions to kill Joel was a good idea? 😭 And in literally the first scene of the show. The episode would be a lot better if they just introduced Abby with that last scene of her and Owen approaching Jackson. It kills the mystery around her character and it's going to make - that scene - a lot less intriguing.

About the characters, I don't like Bella Ramsey but I don't like Ellie either. Why are they making her that insufferable? 
Pedro put a fantastic performance this episode, his acting in season 1 was a bit meh but his emotions in that scene with the therapist were amazing. And Dina... my God I think I'm in love with a fictional character again. My fav of this ep 😍

So decent first episode for me, not close of being the worst of the show. Next monday time to suffer again 🫣🏌️
