Reviews for Shining Vale

I’m a big fan of horror comedy but I think most shows and movies that fall under this genre are rarely ever actually scary or spooky. This one is! And it’s super impressive. I laughed a lot and I got scared and I even gasped at some amazing gross gore. Such a fun show to watch. I will be very upset

I had my doubts during the early episodes, but turns out this show is a campy fun through and through. The fast pace story, dysfunctional characters, and terrific visuals, all complement each other and make this show a highly entertaining experience. There's this kinetic energy throughout that remin

entertaining and funny

I really enjoyed this season and this series so far. It was pretty amusing but the whole demon thing was awfully confusing. I still don't know who is crazy... maybe I am?

Really grew on me as the season progressed, I’ll be honest. A bit rudimentary as a feminist take on The Shining, but it eventually found it’s footing as a throwback to those 2000s era Bryan Fuller-esque horror comedies. Those shows that were given the axe far too soon, but had an irresistible hook a

Best show on TV. A perfect blend of comedy and horror. Courteney Cox is incredible in this as is the rest of the cast. Exceptional writing with countless laugh out loud moments. The amount of story they are able to cover in just 30 minutes is remarkable. It’s an immensely entertaining series.

Fuck yeah i love this one!

flawed but courtney cox absolutely slays

"Shining Vale" is so criminally underrated. I need season 3 like now. 8,12/10

Binged season 1 of this randomly. It’s very fun! Some great comedy and scary moments. Courteney Cox is phenomenal? Like she is really giving the best performance of her career, genuinely Emmy worthy, on this Starz show that I’ve never heard anyone talk about. It’s the perfect culmination of all her

A huge step up for sure. Much funnier, scarier, and more engaging. I think it's still a bit surface level in its themes and I wish it would delve deeper. I also worry about how this will come together into a more cohesive whole. There's definitely a lot of mysteries still left unaddressed and a lot

A Courteney Cox comedy featuring her as middle aged novelist with writer’s block would be enough of a plot for me in this, but it has the added twist of her also being haunted. Honestly, when the story just features her going around the bend, without the haunting and she is just a philandering wif

This was a trip. Felt like AHS season 1 meets Scream Queens meets Scream (s/o Courtney Cox). I wanna see where S2 takes it!

An enjoyable enough watch and gets funny enough by episode 3 or so, but never as sharp as I want it to be. Some comedy beats are cheap especially when it's focused on uninteresting horror references or parodies, and it struggles a lot with fusing the comedy, parody, horror elements, and commentary t

Courtney Cox shine in this fun and entertaining show, fast-paced full of twists and turns, it manages to blend horror and comedy really well. The rest of the cast as well is good, it have some really nice callbacks as well. It's also a bit uneasy at times.

There’s a lot of promise with Shining Vale. There’s a lot of big ideas and interesting thoughts but I don’t think it was executed as best as it could have been. Everything felt a little too rushed. I think Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino did a great job with their performances and seeme

I’m so torn by this show. On the one hand, the spooky, horror elements just don’t really work for me. I get it, but I think they’re the weakest part of the show. On the other hand, Courteney as a frustrated writer and unappreciated mother is excellent. I wish the show had just leaned into that more

Fun first season

COURTENEY COX LA (mia) DONNA CHE SEI !!

A refreshingly fun and funny series that blends dark comedy and the supernatural. Great balance between humour and suspense, keeping you entertained with sharp writing and quirky characters. Courteney Cox shines and this is definitely one of my favourite performances of hers. It's a unique take on f

So good I had to binge it again!

Someday someone will ask me "Have you seen Shining Vale? And I'll answer "yes, I have. It's weirdly funny."

Solid horror comedy show. Ended a little too suddenly but I’m excited for season 2
