I’m so torn by this show. On the one hand, the spooky, horror elements just don’t really work for me. I get it, but I think they’re the weakest part of the show. On the other hand, Courteney as a frustrated writer and unappreciated mother is excellent. I wish the show had just leaned into that more, as the best comedy elements come from those plot points, and her interactions with the people of the town. The first couple of episodes, I’ve got to admit, I wasn’t paying too much attention, but I kept hearing line after line of comedy gold, with all the female actors really delivering their zingers - Courteney, Gus, Merrin & Judith - all just smashing their comedy timing and nailing their reactions to what’s being said. They landed a lot of laugh out loud moments. So, I return to being torn, I would encourage people to watch this show for the absolutely hilarious one liners and put downs, but just try to ignore the horror storyline in the background and focus on these fantastic comedy actors instead.
