Really grew on me as the season progressed, I’ll be honest. A bit rudimentary as a feminist take on The Shining, but it eventually found it’s footing as a throwback to those 2000s era Bryan Fuller-esque horror comedies. Those shows that were given the axe far too soon, but had an irresistible hook and an ironclad understanding of its characters and their dynamics right from the jump. All of the spooky ambiance and half landing jokes are purely gravy to one of the most relatable depictions of a dysfunctional family in recent memory. Bring on Season 2.
