Reviews for Dear Edward

if I had a nickel for every time a Connie Britton character found out a relative of hers was gay, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice. review -> https://www.screenedcinema.com/post/review-dear-edward-season-one

At times cloying and obvious, but in others profound and deeply moving, Dear Edward is a flawed entry within the works of Jason Katims, but in the moments when it comes together it does so quite evocatively. Those moments that stand out do make it worth while, but the frequent dips into sentimentali

It starts off strong, but after that, the plot crashes (no pun intended) to a crawl with too many empty characters that I don't care much about, too many meaningless empty dialogues, nothing much happens after episode 3. It just feels like very traditional broadcast television.

Jason Katim’s ability to tell multiple incredibly dynamic stories in the span of 10 episodes is a sight to see. That said, many of the characters annoyed me after a while and it seemed like they were heading somewhere they never got.

It’s not perfect, but I bought what they were selling and cared a lot regardless. I hope there will be more, even if it works well enough as a contained limited series outside of that cliffhanger ending.

Very well written concept of an overdone plot point. They left the door open for a season 2 even though I felt the show was complete.

I will always love watching people have difficult, emotional conversations in a Jason Katims series, but far too many of this show's storylines just don't work.

The performances by the cast are excellent and it is moving and started very strong and intriguing but got very messy towards the end.

This was not good

boring and unlikable main characters

this tv show dragged on for quite a bit and it didn’t really speak to me much but i loved seeing the characters and somewhat (?) bonding with them. i loved the diversity in the tv show of sexuality and ethnicity and i loved how the show did it right THE ENDING THO??? now i want to know more

Seeing the This Is Us crew involved I had to watched this but it was such an inconsistent show. Some characters were much more interesting than others, some actors miles better than others. I appreciated Edward portrayal of grievance and that ending too for what might come in s2 but aside from that

the beginning episodes I liked but after that I just couldn’t get into it anymore but it’s not a awful show It’s okay It’s not over yet so if I remember I probably will continue watching it but if I don’t I probably won’t watch it

The show is called dear Edward yet his story line does not get enough screen time and the premise is falling flat each episode.

I haven’t really clicked with any Jason Katims projects post-Friday Night Lights. It’s really solid stuff throughout, I just think without the gimmick of football on top of it - I’m not really here for nonstop touchy, feely, weepy. This show is no exception. The quality is clearly there, it just do
