Weakest season thus far but not bad by any means. Really glad it didn’t totally suck because I was questioning my faith in Taylor Sheridan after the awful 1883 prequel. I’m honestly never a fan of when tv shows make their main character run for office because that’s a sign that the show is running out of steam to me. Arrow did it and then trudged on for three more seasons. Peaky Blinders did it and ended. Granted I was a fan of both of these shows, but this was an uninteresting narrative choice to me. That said, I think this was decent enough for the season. Really upset that Kayce was basically on the sideline this whole season outside of comforting Monica after- holy shit wait. MONICA HAD MORE SCREEN TIME THAN KAYCE. FREAKING MONICA. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Oh that’s frustrating. Overall, I enjoyed this more than I anticipated, but could’ve done with a little extra umph to nudge it up a bit. Although…ok so this is only the first half of the season right? Sooooooo where’s the rest? I watched a recording from Paramount Network my dad DVRed back when the episode aired and there was an ad saying the show would return in the summer of 2023 with the rest of the episodes but that sure as shit didn’t happen. Oh well.
