A really messy episode, with useless, embarrassing scenes and weak dialogue.

The face-off between Light and Near was disappointing, I found the way Near discovered Mikami to be ridiculous and forced. Because of that, the scene where Mikami is caught using the Death Note, while somewhat entertaining, is built on weak foundations.

The subplot involving Misa and the reporter is absurd. Misa is unbearable in this episode, I don’t like how she was written, how she is sexualized, and how her scenes and dialogues are staged. She’s truly an irritating character.

I’m only curious to see how Near will use the discovery of Mikami to his advantage and how Light plans to use the reporter to carry out the killings.
