Silo (2023)
Created by Graham Yost for AppleTV and based on the novel trilogy of the same name, we follow Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), an engineer tasked with maintaining the generator for the Silo, the 144 story pit 10,000 inhabitants live in deep underground. Seemingly some hundred years after an apocalyptic event, the series is shrouded in mystery as we slowly learn how these people live, how society functions, and how they all got there. A bit of a slow burn in its world building, like many sci-fi before it it tends to present more new questions as quickly as it answers them. Just finishing up its second season with a third now on the way of supposedly four total eventually, the writing and performances are very solid throughout, and the set pieces are fairly spectacular. That said the show certainly suffers from the everything being constantly dark and dingy, yellow lighting, but pushes the theme of deep underground so I get it. The series has the potential to be great, I'm just hesitant to see how it all ends first. If you like dystopian sci-fi would recommend, its one of the best currently airing.
