This just didn’t hit for me, it’s not particularly bad or offensive. I think it’s just a victim of its own success, the Bear set a humongous standard for the quality of its tv production, with two let’s face it, great seasons. I think the hype for this third one, was maybe a little too much for it. It undelivered ever so slightly.
There was still great stuff, Napkins was a brilliant episode and for a first go at directing by Ayo. Which was the standout of the season which is a testament on how talented she is and how much potential she has to grow. Aside from that the season felt a little limp, like it just seemed like the plot was there, but not fully there. I didn’t really understand the overarching progression for most characters I guess.
The acting was sensational as always, with the guest starts continuing to steal the show in Berthnal and Cena. The camera work is stunning, as these long shots continue to impress. Overall I’m glad Fx continues to pad out their already impressive show gallery, with shows like this.
