Properly kicking off the vibe of the whole series, season two includes a few really funny scenarios inside some pretty hilarious bottle episodes. It also reshuffles and restructures some of the characters and relationships around, which makes you think the writers really paid attention to what didn’t work in the first season. Andy Dwyer is starting to become more of a loveable loser rather than the totally uncaring jerk as seen previously and the idea of pairing him up with April, who has the most laugh out loud scenes of the season, is all absolutely golden. The show also drops the whole Leslie & Mark Brendanowicz love sideplot and Leslie in general is a lot more work driven and confident in her goals, even if some of them aren’t exactly the most feasible. But seeing her share the spotlight for a few episodes with Justin Theroux, and then at the end with Adam Scott, proves that the writers were on a good path with her character. Sadly though, Mark remains a dull and completely uninteresting guy and it feels like he drags the otherwise colorful cast of characters down. My favourite of the bunch so far has to be Ron Swanson, Leslie’s completely carefree boss and it’s his dynamic, whether in the father/daughter repartee with April or with everyone in general, you can’t help but always laugh at his all too traditionally manly persona. The hunting episode that happens halfway around the season has him in the spotlight and it might be the best twenty something minutes of the show so far. So it’s all very promising and very fun as of yet!
