Sonny Boy is about a class of students who are taken from their world and brought to a new one mysteriously. In a way this show is looking at these people who escape reality and question whether it’s worth going back or staying. This is the most unique show I’ve ever watched. I don’t think any other show can achieve what this one did. If you look at every episode with closed eyes like i did for the first few episodes you’ll end up not liking it. Trying to understand the themes of this show with the way they were presented is hard but worth it. I’d be lying if i said i understood everything in this show but i understood enough for this show to have a lasting impact on me. I feel like the main point of this show is to present real life themes in a wacky way. Death, regret, hope, love, ect. With simple animation, beautiful cinematography, phenomenal dialogue, and interesting characters this show is unforgettable. Finishing it gave me a gut wrenching feeling I haven’t felt for a show in a long time. I could probably rewatch this 100 times and still never understand everything but i don’t need to.
