Sweet! Despite having a glittery multiverse-spanning action plot, Fionna & Cake's strengths lie in individual arcs and down-to-earth emotional moments that made the OG characters memorable in the first place. In terms of atmosphere and pacing, those first two eps got it so right - I'm not sure it even needed a conventional "big bad" especially him not being a prior character or an interesting one, he just bogged the show down a bit. I'm so glad this got renewed but I hope Season 2 allows the characters more room to breathe. There's this constant push now for shows to get "bigger" or Marvel-ified, so to speak, until the original feel gets lost. It'd be a shame watching that happen to something with leads this lovable.
