Masterpiece. One of the most unique and in my opinion the most atmospheric and relaxing show of all time and I will explain why:
1. The general idea. The general idea is that the main character wanders around the world and helps people with their problems, but the way it's presented is incredible. The concept of the mushi is extremely interesting, they are mystical beings or spiritual entities that exist in the world and interact with nature, people and the environment. They have no physical form and have unique abilities that can influence living beings and the world around them. And the uniqueness of these abilities is astounding. They can be both harmless and such that can cause genocide. To the rescue always comes the main character Ginko, the master of mushi, who understands these creatures and helps people in solving problems. How calm and unhurried this is makes the anime very relaxing
2. Setting. The action takes place in a rather ancient and isolated world with deep forests, mountains, rivers, and villages. The art design of the series creates an amazing atmosphere where nature plays an important role and each story reveals new aspects of this amazing world
3. Cinematography. I was pretty surprised, at least because it was drawn way back in 2004 but that didn't stop it from making one of the most beautiful shows of all time. More specifically, this is like top 5 cinematography on TV. Here are my pins with a selection of great shots: https://pin.it/4Vjpanb7i https://pin.it/4Vjpanb7i
4. Soundtracks. One of the most important aspects that help create the atmosphere and the anime did this job 1000% as these are the best overall soundtracks I've ever heard. If it wasn't for the soundtracks, the anime would have been much worse. Here is an example of one of my favorite ost of this show: https://youtu.be/kU7WK89Do3U?si=AX2cL_E4kgIjCxn-
5. Characters. Like I said the main character is Ginko and he helps everyone. Other than that he has an amazing backstory in episode 12 and it's my favorite episode so far. It completely explains all the questions that watchers may have had about the character himself, like why he smokes all the time or has white hair. Apart from him there is only 1 character that appears for more than 1 episode and that is the merchant but he is generally unremarkable, while the characters appearing for 1 episode can be extremely interesting because of their history which is always connected to the mushi. For example, in one episode a guy tried to catch a rainbow that his father caught a long time ago but nobody believed him (rainbow is a mushi), or a girl who with her scream infected the nearest people with a slow disease because of which she was forced to be silent for about 10 years. All in all, all of these characters are very unique.
I should have written this in a review of the entire show since I haven't watched the second season yet, but I can't wait to share this underrated and truly beautiful work with you all
Average episode: 8.6/10
OVERALL: Low 10/10 and Top 5 season 1 oat
