Nemesis really did exceed my expectations.

Quite pessimistically, I was expecting something way more hackneyed, way more glorious and celebratory, because I thought that'd be the only way you'd convince a politician of any persuasion to participate in a project like this (unless of course there's ulterior motives, this is politics after all), let alone convincing an entire political force to basically conduct its own autopsy 3 times over.

I expected nowhere near this amount of insight. In no way did I expect to be as absorbed and captivated by this series as I was. This series is not perfect, but nonetheless it's a brilliant capture of a tumultuous time politically in Australia, and an excellent analysis of how poisoned and Machiavellian the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Governments were.

I can't help but commend everyone involved in this project, and the ABC for backing it. Let me reiterate, this series is NOT perfect, but I truly hold the belief that the ABC is the only media entity in Australia that could get anywhere close to being whatever 'perfect' is in this circumstance.

This is the best piece of political journalism I've seen from a mainstream source in as long as I can remember.

About as good of a recount through the Coalition years as one could reasonably expect. Any narration is kept to a minimum, opting for MPs and Liberal party members to give their piece alongside news reports at the time. I do think it quite an accomplishment for the ABC to have so many politicians featured here, making the absence of some key figures feel damning in regard to their past actions. Coupled with their rhetoric and subtext brought to life across most interviews, it's clear that Nemesis never has to try hard to criticize the LNP - they already do a good enough job of that.
