Where do I even begin with this? My favorite show of all time. Everything is so meticulously done, there’s absolutely nothing left up in the air. They’ve set us on these characters roads and there’s no way to get off, no way to even change lanes even when you desperately want to.
It’s so beautiful. The writing, the characters, the cinematography, the score. I could write essays about every character that pops in and the relationships between them, not only could I it’s done so well I almost want to. So many callbacks to little moments, small lines that in new or other context hits you like a truck. The parallels, the motivations, the foreshadowing, the callbacks, it’s all just perfect. You think you know how it all ends, it’s a prequel after all. You think you’re in for another fun goofy Saul Goodman adventure, but you get Jimmy McGill for most of it. When he switches, all you want is Jimmy back. To be able to do that with the comic relief character from one of the greatest shows ever, change him into another person to start with, slowly morphing him into the one we all already know is challenging. I think it would feel nearly impossible to start with. To have to write how he became Saul, that alone would be daunting, not have him change too quick but fill up the time meaningfully. But to also have to write his motivations, how he meets and interacts with the established and new characters, pave this man’s road. And this is just talking about the main character, they put this much attention, dedication, and love into every one of them in this show. It’s incredible to see.
I wish I could figure out how to put my feelings for this show into words. The way this show had me reacting, had me feeling is unlike any piece of art ever had before. The joy, the distraught, the fear, the disgust, all of it. I went to bed unable to sleep thinking about this show. It’s overwhelming to even think about what else to say about it, how to express my love and admiration for it all. For me, this is a perfect show. A show that’s unlike any other, and I don’t think anything will ever be able to compete with it. And that’s a beautiful thing. My “road”, like Mike/Jimmy mentions, is forever changed from watching this.
(I was going to end this off with a *finger guns* joke like from the finale but idk how to make that work so y’all just get this)
