I was initially interested in watching Lost because of its interesting premise, but was a little hesitant because I had heard mixed opinions about the show's declining quality plus Lost also had a very large number of episodes with a total of 121 episodes. But I still decided to watch Lost with lowered expectations. And as a result I will declare that I am very much in love with this show, and made Lost into my top 5 favorite shows for now.
Lost was an exciting epic of action and adventure balanced with a real care and attention for the characters that remain at the core of the show. Lost had a great and interesting storyline, and it also had a very good and neat use of mystery. I love how clever the writers of Lost were especially when it comes to presenting mysteries and giving surprising answers to them. Deaths in Lost were also often shocking both in terms of who dies and the sudden timing, proving that almost no character was safe here.
But what makes Lost special for me, and what makes the show unique, was that the story focuses not only on the mysteries on the island but also on the past and the development of the characters through flashbacks, flash-forwards, and stories on the island. Because Lost was a show based on characters, and was also defined by the intimate bonds between these characters.
Indeed, in the first episode we were shown how the characters from the plane crash are stranded on an island and try to find rescue. But as the story progressed, I realized that they were there for a reason, to find what they had lost and couldn't find in the outside world (their past). It was on the island that they finally found themselves and each other.
Because if the characters had never met each other and spent time on the island together, they would probably still be living in misery and loneliness, where they would never get a better life and redeem themselves to the extent of self-awakening and forgiveness.
I felt very sad and didn't want to part with the show, but I had to "move on". In the end, Lost has been an amazing and rewarding journey in my life, made the time i've spent on this long journey feel worthy. And most importantly, Lost managed to provide the resolution and a deserved closure of the characters we invested in, which made me very satisfied and made Lost a hardly forgotten TV shows.
