lately i’ve been a bit worried that hxh won’t hold up to my expectations and prior experience and while this is obviously true owing to the fact i can’t watch it for the first time again, it still successfully succeeds in gaping 100% of media i’ve ever seen.
the pure emotion i felt rewatching is really incomparable. ill rewatch ‘re;’, (cg 2x25 (my #2 ep)) and see if it even slightly graces this (it won’t ☠️).
even on my 3rd rewatch it still pulls up more emotion than i’ve felt in most likely any media i’ve consumed recently.
‼️ SPOILERS AHEAD ‼️
ging and gons talk is just a perfect ending to his arc.
“You should enjoy the little detours. To the fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want."
superbly encapsulates the entire point of this fucking show my goodness, it’s just insane. hxh does the “it’s about the friends you made along the way” troupe, miles better than any other adaptation, and literally pulls it off perfectly.
to the people who say hxh has little or poor writing, or gon is one dimensional, 😭😭.
gon and the world tree metaphor/parallel sooooo well done by togashi and a great wrap up to gons message.
I'm enjoying the journey. So if your destination is the same as mine, enjoy the side trips. A lot. Something more important than the thing you're hunting could be right there by the side of the road".
this is probably my favorite final say in any media.
togashi has truly masterful storytelling skills, a mother fucking genius that man is.
in the final minutes while the intro song plays one last time, we see the whereabouts of the other characters.
- killua is traveling with his sister (not even scratching the surface on my opinions on this dexterous conclusion for him, i love kill)
- leorio is still on his way to become a doctor
- some other side characters doing stuff
- than we have a perfect set up for kurapikas arc. (kurapika >= sasuke, pissing off the naru fans ik)
as my last thing i want to circle back to gon and the world tree metaphors. gon implicitly feels himself in the tree, a unlimited well of power. ging speaks on how the tree is but a sampling and won’t reach its full potential. adult gon form is equal to a fully grown world tree. but, gon may not reach this form again due to the nen contract he made.
just to say i’m not going into full detail here, infact i’m really just grading the surface of this episode.
