"Connected by light." At it's best Dexter is an incredibly entertaining show with intriguing characters and absolutely amazing season villains. At its worst Dexter is absolutely unwatchable and has one of the worst endings I've had the displeasure to watch. Season 1-4: the absolute peak of the show. Villains like The Ice Truck Killer, Trinity Killer, Doakes were amazing to watch and their writing was incredible. Dexter's development in these seasons and his relationship with Rita and as a father to Rita's children is Dexter at his best both as a person and as a character. The humor, the kills, the story was really strong with a few weak moments (Season 2 finale). Season 5: I enjoyed this season it has My Bad which is a top 10 Dexter episode but wow is it a step down, Lumen is a good character don't get me wrong and her dynamic with Dexter was good but the season's villains are extremely forgettable but at least you know they are there. It's a decent season, certainly a warning sign of what the final seasons of the show would become. Season 6: A promising season with the introduction of the Brother Sam character which brings some interesting discussions about faith with Dexter. Once Brother Sam leaves the season it turns into absolute filth. The villain Travis is genuinely so TRASH and it doesn't help that his actor is not really good. I guess talent doesn't run in the family. Also has one of the most predictable and stupid plot twists. Season 7: The show is suddenly great again! Issak and the other antagonist are amazing and the way that they relate and interact with Dexter is so peak. Genuinely should had been the final season as it's stakes reminded me of season 2. The ending was genuinely jaw dropping and the fact that season 8 did not follow up on a gold mine of what could had been was the worst choice oat. Season 8: no lol Favorite season: season 4. I've said what I've had to say about this season but it's the peak of the show. Story, writing, villains are at its peak. The dynamic with the trinity killer and his interactions with Dexter are great. The way you see Trinity give Dexter advice that does help him be a better family man and the way it seems Trinity can both handle being a family man and a killer is so genuinely GOOD. The Getaway is probably one of the best season finale I've seen. Check my review for it as it's pretty long and I've expressed all my thoughts about it. Top 3 characters:. 1. Dexter Morgan: top 10 protagonist. Dexter Morgan is one of the most entertaining and tragic protagonist I've had the pleasure to see. His monologues and dialogue are incredible and especially his monologue on The Getaway and Dark Defender I think alot about. Even if his conclusion for the original show is pretty bad it doesn't completely ruin him as a character 2. Rita Bennett: Her relationship with Dexter is my favorite part of the show. Rita's character is really tragic and the way she begins to trust Dexter and Dexter learns how to love because of her was my favorite part of the show. All other Dexter girlfriend's aren't as good as her. RITA SUPREMACY 3. Trinity Killer: Dexter's best antagonist and most deadly. Absolutely the best that Dexter has to offer. I cannot talk about him in detail without spoiling. Top 10 episodes: 1. The Getaway 2. My Bad 3. Hello, Dexter Morgan 4. Are You? 5. Resistance is Futile 6. Born Free 7. Seeing Red 8. Argentina 9. Teenage Wasteland 10. Hungry Man
