I’ve always believed that animated projects should never be converted into live-action , and Netflix’s live-action ONE PIECE pleasantly surprised me by actually having a lot of heart instead of becoming another one of those Hollywood nostalgia bait , keep in mind , I haven’t read the manga and I only watched bits and pieces of the anime when I was little , but with Oda’s involvement and the passionate fans of the source material , ONE PIECE definitely managed to entertain enough for both longtime fans and newcomers to dig Of course , what is shown in this adaptation is going to be quite underwhelming compared to the original due to the limitations of the medium , but for being a Hollywood project , I can confidently say that it captures the essence of ONE PIECE and unlike other Western castings for live-action animated characters , they absolutely nailed The Straw Hats , and the ONE PIECE treasure is truly real and maybe it’s the friends we made along the way… I am going to be curious to see the future of this live action adaptation because to my knowledge , East Blue is probably the most down to earth the source material has even been , but who knows , I had expectations going in this of me hating it , but I ended up liking it , maybe the show would have a really bright future !
