"It's a tired trend" I think this is the review that pissed me off the most and I hadn't even watched the show yet. Because where is this overdone? What about this whole thing is exhaustingly explored on television? I don't need a Google search to know there aren't many (if any) shows, or even movies, that have their story centered around two lesbians. I know, without having to look, that there aren't many shows with a female black lead. I know subjects like matriarchy, vampires being able to have kids, guilds, vampire social stratification, aren't usually approached on television or film. So, how is this overdone? It would be a lot easier to just say you hate lesbians and go.
Yes, this is cliche at times, it's a campy little vampire show that sometimes its predictable but it's FUN. It's actually fun and sweet and it's good enough for me to binge the whole thing without even realising. Maybe it's not for everyone because not everyone is into vampires but let's not use stupid excuses to explain why you're not watching when there's no possible explanation for homophobia. The world needs more shows like this, I don't have enough faith in Netflix (especially after these annoying reviews) but I still hope this gets a second season. It's good enough to get one.
