Poster for First Kill
Every tIme I see someone talk about this show good or bad I am always like “you’re so right” and I change my opinion so Imma just give a neutral score and leave both my takes below and let y’all decide what to think. **I have finally made a decision and I found myself leaning more towards my second argument (see below) and have adjusted my rating accordingly. I still believe in the value of both so I have elected to keep both here but soon reflection, the bad just out weighed the good with this one. And as much as I love representation and campiness, this just was not worth it. I wanted camp and that is what I got! This show was so stupid but in like a good way I guess. If you want a show that requires no brain effort passed your brain hitting the giant red “GAY” button then watch this. It is no where near perfect but I had a good time laughing at it. Is it a fun campy show about sapphic vampires? Kinda. Was it well made? Hell no. Did I binge watch the whole thing in 2 days? Yes. Will I ever rewatch it? I sure hope not. Looking for a cohesive plot feels like Where’s Waldo? Extreme Edition. The cgi looks like they paid four guys right out of college in only gift cards. The worst part of all of this is that I was hoping to love this. I’m down for campy gay vampires but please give it some heart and build a foundation for something. I love V. E. Schwab but I was in middle school when I learned after one unfortunate first chapter that one make out sesh with a hot vampire does not make a convincing or stable relationship. There were a handful of scenes that I thought were well done and I give the credit to the two main actors alone.
