It's great the we finally figure out part of Walt's true motivations in this episode. Sure, we don't learn the core reason behind all of his actions until the end of the series when he reveals it to his wife, but at least now the viewer has a better understanding of why he's done so many questionable things over the past few seasons even when they were completely unnecessary to his family's security: he wants control. He wants power. He wants to manage an empire of of extraordinary proportions. He wants to be the king because his massive ego enjoys it.

I mentioned this before, but I'll bring it up again because it's very relevant here. In the beginning of the show, the viewer is made to believe that Walt is NOT made for this business whatsoever and that Jesse is the one who has a legitimate place in it; however, as the series progresses, the opposite is revealed to be the truth. We see an example of that in this episode when Walt's just whistling about serenely as he prepares himself for a cook, whereas Jesse is still distraught from what Todd did at the end of the last episode. Walt can handle horrible things happening to innocent people as a result of his actions as long as it doesn't affect him or his family. Jesse, on the other hand, cannot, and he even decides to retire from the business as a in this episode result of them. It's mind-boggling to me how so many people still don't see Walt as a villain by the end of the show.

Speaking of Todd, I love how we're shown how psychotic he is in this episode. He's not in it for very long, but the few minutes we see of him here make him an extremely memorable character. The guy is pure, unfiltered psycho. He tells Walt and Mike that he didn't like the act of killing the kid and only did it to preserve the business, but as we learn throughout this episode: he truly doesn't give two shits about the kid's death. He talks about the act the disposing of the kid's body as if he were disposing a trash bag. He even takes the kid's tarantula as a trophy and smiles at it later on. Jesse is completely right about him: the guy is an absolute nut job.
