well in short i did not like it innit. it would have been solid mediocre television for any show but as a follow-up to the first season it's genuinely pathetic. full of plot no one cares about with characters we're supposed to care about immediately and we don't. the only recognizable characters sound like caricatures of themselves. the stakes are absurdly low and there is never at any point any sense of danger or suspense ot even tension. the flashback episode was mind blowingly bad. it goes on forever and NOTHING happens. actually all flashbacks are like that. yhe point they're trying to make could be reached in a few minutes and instead it drags on forever like i don't give a shit about aziraphale going to a magic shop to buy a magic prop and i don't get how anyone would. trying to show the closeness that develops between aziraphale & crowley was done very clearly with that montage last season. and it was done effectively and in an entertaining way. i can only assume neil gaiman saw how the people were reacting to it and came to the conclusion thzt any flashback sequence would be automatically good because it'd be carried by silly costumes and the actor's chemistry. well it's not. it's uninteresting, i didn't need to see more of the nazis, and i know aziraphale isn't going to die because this isn't the first episode i've ever watched. i'm spending too much time on that bit but god was it not good. i want to be more succint in saying this reads like fanfiction and not especially good one at that. writing 6 episodes of a tv show that are completely empty is disappointing and unnecessary especially when the first one was so engaging and full of plots and quirks and characters and scenes. do a pass one more time for the next one and idk take a film writing class maybe?
