In the end, I think Tony got what he deserved - not a quick death, not a slow painful death, but a life of uncertainty. Always looking over his shoulder, whether he's on the run sleeping with a machine gun, or having dinner with his family. There's no escape for Tony Soprano. Maybe he dies in the diner, maybe he doesn’t. But which is better? To get shot in the head in front of your children or to live a life of constant torture? Those are the only two options left for Tony Soprano. In some other life, he would've been selling patio furniture. But that's not the life he chose, and he can never get to it, even though ever night he dreams of it, he will never, ever be there because he can’t even bear to admit that he wants that. Don't stop believing.
