Watched this when it first came out! Incredible mastery of drama, comes across as chillingly realistic with some fierce social commentary. I don't remember finding the characters interesting in themselves however, and the 'solutions' towards the story's end came across as very underwhelming and insufficient. I want to re-emphasise this story's mastery of drama and tension, though - when it comes to making the audience feel cold, or on the same page emotionally as the characters, it's very good. That said, although I'd consider myself part of the choir this series was preaching to, I wouldn't consider it particularly convincing for anyone who didn't share my political perspectives. Perhaps the drama and how it was grounded in the real-world could be more convincing than I'd assumed? Hope so, poignant stuff.
