I'll add my voice to the chorus that sings the praises of a show that is far better than it has any right to be. It's not just that it's a long-form narrative based on a video game that has no clear story to speak of; it's also the utterly stunning animation quality that blends its 3D characters with 2D effects and environments in a way that makes it look like a painting in motion at its most peaceful, and a neon rave at its most intense.
Carrying that animation along is a complex web of factional politics, personal relationships and opposing moralities that - again - do not seem to belong in an animated series based on a video game without a plotline. Yet, somehow, Arcane manages to build a world that is as murky as it is vibrant, and fills that world with fully realized characters and engaging drama in between the beautiful, colorful splatter of its action.
The English language does not have enough superlatives to describe my adoration of season 1 of Arcane.
