My circle of friends greatly mourned Andy Whitfield's death by condemning Liam McIntyre's performance in this season. He's pictured here using two swords. Andy Whitefield's Spartacus was taught to kill with two swords, it was part of the fairly insignificant plot of season one. The core of my friends' argument was that McIntyre's Spartacus in this season only gets his hands on a second sword in a late episode, and it's very clear he's had little prior practice wielding swords in both arms compared to Andy Whitfield in the previous season. I'm not quite so picky. My view is that yes, it sucks Whitfield did not get to continue his life more than anything to do with this show. I'm glad we got more Spartacus regardless of the tragedy, even in the form that this second season took with the fairly novice actor taking center stage. I'm still a huge fan of this season in comparison to other television shows, flawed as it is. Fortunately McIntyre gets much better at what he does quickly and delivers a fantastic season three in my opinion.
Now if only I could get these folks here at Serializd to let me log Gods of the Arena we'd be in business here..
