Damn, it was never gonna be Ken, huh? Whole season is solid but it really takes off and comes into its own during the no-confidence vote which is why the finale mirrored it. The way the professional "moves" shed into bleak, manipulative, abusive family history in that moment when Roman reverts into a little boy when it's his turn to cast the deciding vote just totally shifted the show, and every ep after (therapy session, sex party, wedding, etc) just leans further into this and gets better as it goes on. It so delicately maneuvers its way from billionaire conglomerate fail-children Arrested Development into legit Shakespearean tragedy that the big melodramatic gesture in the finale is still pretty shocking even with Ken's history of drug addiction hanging over the whole season. That "bear hug" is just so perverse, maybe the only gesture of kindness Logan grants to one of his kids and it's both blackmailing & a privileged cover-up simultaneously. All the Tom and Shiv stuff is still so fucked, the mind games of their dynamic (and whether it's romance or power or "real") is maybe the defining one of the show, more so than the father/son one at its center that it's easy to pay more attention to. Forgot about "I see you, Greg! You Machiavellian fuck. I like it."
