More of the same acid bite satire of season one brought down with a commitment to extend its Hee Haw parody Horse Apples to a full 20 minute episode. A real low point for the entire series that definitely works better as a companion to the finale though I will say; following up the manic Jeff Foxworthy Kabuki theatre with the more somber reckoning of Compelling Television puts the former episode’s lazy, but prophetic ribbing of alt right conservative values into the context of a more hallowed debate between television as entertainment vs a real art form. 20 minutes straight of excruciating incest and racist jokes can be as boundary breaking/prestigey as a felt puppet antagonizing the general public, and that’s the magic absurdity of television. God help us all.
