The Knick is one of the most mesmerising series I’ve ever seen. It really reminded me of s1 of The Alienist (before the show fell off). Steven GOAT Soderbergh directed all the episodes to perfection, providing some of the most striking camera work I’ve seen on television. The writing was also really sharp - almost theatrical - which provided the stage for some really fine acting performances, particularly from Clive Owen and André Holland (I need him to keep working with Soderbergh btw). Cinemax/HBO cancelling the show really sucks but I’m incredibly grateful for the 2 excellent seasons we got. I read that we might be getting a 3rd season (helmed by none other than Barry Jenkins!!!!) somewhere down the line and the pilot has already been written so hopefully that comes to fruition soon. But for now, goodbye Knickerbocker Hospital.
