The season starts with Jimmy McGill, legally changing his identity to Saul Goodman. Then throughout the episodes, we witness him undergo a metamorphosis not only in name but also in character and actions, adopting Saul's illegal ways more and more. I remember myself looking at all these memes of his reflecting face, thinking: "yeah funny shot." now when I look at it, I only see Jimmy's last defense line against Saul Goodman.
"We all make our choices. And those choices, they put us on a road." Jimmy could have opted for a normal, prosperous, and legal life as a lawyer by declining Lalo's offer. yet a part of him made a decision, choosing the road of which events we watch glimpses of at the beginning of every season. a part that has always been present and has always been drawn to the thrill of conning and manipulating, a part he knows very well he couldn't achieve success without. at first it was called "Slippin' Jimmy" and now it's a living embodiment of Chuck's worst nightmare. He made his choice, and I only wished for the consequences to fall solely on him and not those around.
I like to imagine that Jimmy died in 'Bagman' when there was a gun pointed at his head, the trigger was pulled, and a bullet was fired. It was Saul who was saved by Mike, and they both left Jimmy's body lying in the desert that day. Saul lived.
A great piece of television, looking forward to the finale season.
