i am literally obsessed with the way this was made. the cinematography, the directing, danny boyle is a genius like this man knows what he’s doing. pistol is a fever dream-like biopic that tells the story of the sex pistols from the somewhat-perspective of jonesey, played by toby wallace who i literally cannot get enough of. the entire show is perfectly casted, anson boon is brilliant and he embodies johnny rotten so well, louis partridge really took me by surprise with his portrayal of sid vicious, he’s so young and gives such a strong performance and thomas brodie sangster is a stellar standout as the conniving malcolm mclaren.
in the autobiography that the show is based on, jonesey writes of his dark childhood: ‘’i don’t think the sex pistols would’ve ever existed – at least, not with me in them – if it wasn’t for what happened to me next, apart from anything else, the urge to look for a better life wouldn’t have been there, because I’d already have had one.’’ the more you follow their story, the more you realize they were all just kids, in search of purpose, love and meaning in the midst of chaos. overall, i appreciate how stylish, witty and gritty this is. the whole entire vibe of the show is perfect and i love how it captures the punk scene in 1970’s london. most notably, the COSTUMES in this are so cool i’m literally obsessed, that red vivienne westwood suit malcolm wears in episode 6 are you fucking kidding me!?? the costumes are everythinggg. anyway the vibes alone are reason enough to give this show a watch. and their accents are so fucking sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
