As a massive fan of the book I was worried they wouldn’t be able to do it justice. But I think they did! They changed A LOT but I was happy with the changes for the most part.
The casting is perfect! Riley Keough and Sam Claflin’s chemistry is off the charts, they were so perfect as Daisy and Billy. And Camila Morrone and Suki Waterhouse made me fall even more in love with Camila and Karen, they both have my whole heart. I also love that they made Eddie a lot more likable in the show, and we got to see more of Simone, those were changes that I really appreciated!
I think the only complaint I have is that I wish they wouldn’t have watered down the characters as much as they did. I understand that fitting these characters into a simpler mold is more marketable and translates better onscreen. But one thing about the book that resonated with me so deeply was how complex and really relatable these characters were down to their core. And I just wasn’t really feeling that here all that much.
But my god this was great overall! I don’t know how they expect me to just move on from this lol. Maybe I’ll have to go listen to Aurora on repeat and reread the book.
