First and foremost the whole concept of Inside Job in itself already seems so fun in hindsight so I’m so glad the writes managed to not only executed it perfectly, but also made it more gut-wrenching than it has any right to be. Inside Job took its wonderland of a world and inserted characters that feels human. Not only are they endearing and lovable, but they also have daily struggles that we could all relate to. In fact I think the main reason why they are so endearing and lovable is because we can relate to them in a personal level, even if we don’t work in a top secret company filled with talking mushrooms, stones, and dolphins. Inside Job could just rely on its phenomenal setting to carry the narrative, but it went a step further by introducing messages that we as a human understand. But that being said, oh my god do I love the world of Inside Job. A world where all conspiracies are all true (except flat earthers lmao) is literally my childhood dream come true. Being a fan of Gravity Falls, this feels like THE spiritual successor which why it didn’t take too long for the series to capture my heart. Every episodes really branches out the world by introducing many familiar conspiracies that’ll make any nerds point their fingers to the screen and say ‘hey it’s them!’. Truly one of my favourite worlds in any series ever and I’m so glad I got to experience it. Even though I’ve been talking about Inside Job as if it’s a flawless piece of television, but the truth is that it’s still far from that. One of Inside Job’s biggest flaws lies in its finale. The ideas as well as the executions are there and dare I say some even left me in tears due to how sincere the series was at conveying the messages. But Inside Job still manages to messed up the very thing that makes a finale amazing, which is the build-up leading up to it. This however is more towards the part 2 finale, rather than part 1. In part 2, all of the shenanigans about Project Reboot feels out of place and rushed, which contrast on the other finale that focuses on something that’s already building up since the first episode. While the idea of Project Reboot is awesome and the way it connect to the themes of the episode was spectacular, I would be lying if I don’t want more explanation and build-up for this gigantic event. Second of all, is the impact from the finales. Part 1 in itself reveals many things about the characters of Inside Job yet it didn’t go anywhere. Part 2 had a chance to further explored the events that was left by part 1 but manage to tackle NONE of it. Apart from the finale, the episodes in between still have some glaring problems. Mainly in how all of the episodes have two different plots that’s very tonally distinct, and sometimes the series doesn’t juggle it well or gives the jokes too much time and therefore resulting into the “more serious” plot being incomplete. And also, this series had a weird obsession with sex. Anyway, that’s all of the problems I can found from Inside Job, and while it’s not that many, the impacts can be easily felt which was honestly so sad because the series is so close to be the masterpiece that it was meant to be. I straight up cry when I heard this series was cancelled, because Inside Job was truly a cult classic in the making. The world was fun, the characters were phenomenal, and the writing was clever so I have no doubt that this series could be a fully fledged masterpiece if Netflix given them a chance. But I’m still happy this series existed because I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun with an animated show since Gravity Falls itself. I love this series so much, flaws and all.
