The perfect example of style over substance. This season stumbled its way to an underwhelming and unsatisfying conclusion.
Characters such as Kat and Jules got close to ZERO development. No storyline whatsoever. Meanwhile, we had to sit through the new dude strumming his crummy guitar for five minutes.
I don’t know why Sam thinks he has the capability to write stories for young women when he couldn’t POSSIBLY understand what they’re going through or their experience. That’s why… you invite other writers into the room. Since he refused to do that, these stories feel hollow, empty, uninformed and at times, offensive and tone deaf.
He gave Cassie a lot of screen time, and yet somehow managed to not reveal anything new about her. He didn’t give us the opportunity to understand why she even sleeps with Nate. And instead, he just makes her take her top off every other scene. Gross.
The only topic that was handled with care and delicacy was the addiction storyline, which was basically just one episode.
Eight episodes. And you can fit everything important that happened into one.
