Simply one of the greatest pieces of fiction to ever be aired. The best episode of a show that contains modern classic after modern classic, crystallizing into this 21 minute bottle of masterful surrealism and utter delight. Every plot line sets something up for the others, all while doing their consistently entertaining own thing, and while I would have to point to “the darkest timeline” as my favorite of the group, none of the others are overshadowed, as the whole thing also turns out to be a masterpiece of character work, having an insightful understanding of each member of the study group and what they represent as scenarios shift and change. It’s a brilliant work of build up, barely even noticeable on first watch, that explodes into maximum catharsis in such a weird, silly, and upmost thoughtful way that only a show like Community could ever pull off. And then after all that, it contains maybe the best end credits sequence of them all? Just an all around blast. An insanely sharp, absolutely hilarious, and excellently written pizza slice of perfection. I watched this for the first time only a couple of months ago, yet I’ve already lost count of how many times I’ve seen it. I can’t wait for those rewatches in the future.
