I ended up loving this more and more as I kept watching. What a beautiful and heartfelt story of second chances, grappling with expectations from family, and learning to love again. The color grading is one of my favorite aspects of this—how Yae and Harumichi’s youth are mostly depicted with bright, warm tones, whereas their late adulthood is filled with low-key lighting and blue tones. The non-linear narrative also makes learning about each of them even more gratifying and special.
