The Inhumans is a chapter in the Marvel Universe that quite frankly doesn't create the same draw as other Marvel properties in any medium. Yet that's just one challenge of this production. Black Bolt is a great character in design, yet muting your lead in the likes of Anson Mount is like watching the man act in handcuffs; he did a good job, but he was obviously not in a role where he could use all of his skills. That's just two challenges of this production before pre-production. Then you get into episode one. The intro sequence is terrible. There's too little emotion in several critical scenes that has viewers likely bored at critical moments. That's terribly inexcusable, and I'm blaming poor direction over the actors, some of which seem incredibly uncomfortable in their new roles and could likely shoulder some of the blame. There's also poorly constructed lines which should have been in a re-write of the script or at least eliminated through good direction on set, lines that make the production just feel forced and hokey. And that piece of shit prick from Game of Thrones with the patchy beard had much more dialogue than we'd like from him. All this slaps viewers in the face before they finish episode one, so yea, I do understand the terrible scores for this one completely. Then there's more problems, like bad lighting, terrible make-up effects and other plot-hole puzzles like why is the hoofed Gorgon wearing boots all the time, and how can that chick run around the whole episode with a bullet wound in the stomach? These are issues I tend to pin on the writers, but what can I really say when they're making money in the trade and I'm the pleb buying their shitty scripts. This one might be pretty bad for a Marvel property, but there is one decent run of Inhumans you can watch on screen: the 2013 motion comic release from Marvel Knights I thought was a great interpretation of the title. Then again those motion comics are pretty much direct paper to screen copies of the comics for the most part, so it's pretty much guaranteed to entertain most comic fans.
