Overall Rating (Episode Average)- 3.9/5 ~ 4/5 Started On: 1/15/23 Finished On: 1/17/23 this show is not great. yeah i said it. i still enjoy it obviously, but it is insanely flawed. i’ve posted my thoughts on this show on my private story on snap over time so i’m just gonna copy and paste those quotes. they all still hold up to my views on the show: • 11/30/22 • 3 episodes in and i don’t think wednesday is a good show. i do think it’s an enjoyable show. the characters are very hit or miss and the dialogue is kinda weird (not wednesdays but like everything else) i do think it does a decent job at immersing you in the world though, which somewhat adds to the enjoyment. the modernism is definitely what makes this show lack for me i don’t want to be reminded of innuendos and different social media platforms when i’m watching something, that ruins the immersion nor does it feel like a tim burton piece. maybe because of how modern the show is, but this feels like what someone who saw one burton film and tried to replicate it • 12/15/22 • why was wednesday even put at nevermore? like she doesn’t have any powers and its not like they knew about the visions. she was literally just put their cause she’s emo and morticia and gomez don’t have powers either they’re just emo too. so is nevermore for kids with powers and emos? and when are shows and movies gonna stop doing twist villiains? going against the cliche has become the new cliche. either do them like syndrome in the incredibles (making a irrelevant character revelant later) or just don’t have a villain mrs thornhill wasnt an irrelevant character. wednesday didnt even need a twist villian. it didnt need to be a nancy drew mystery show. it literally could of just been a movie. i wish it was just a movie. keep the characters but against the story im not saying it cant have conflict. wednesday goes to this school and people don’t like her but she doesn’t care. she gets in some fights or whatever. movie ends a brains over brawn fight against a kid with powers and she wins but gets expelled idk thats a really rough retelling and it could be retold differently but wednesday had too much going on and wasn’t that good. it’s a decently enjoyable show tho oh my god some of this writing and characters are soooo baddd jenna ortega is probably the only good actor in this. almost all of her past roles are exicuted perfectly, along with her as wednesday hunter doohan (tyler) is not a good actor at all (at least in this). his delivery of his lines is very rough and he sounds like he’s always asking a question percy hynes white (xavier) isn’t a phenomenal actor but all of his past acting experiences are the same as this one. he plays a character that isn’t that dynamic but not that static, and is just kinda there emma myers (enid) wasnt bad but not extraordinary. she does a better job than percy but they’re somewhat on the same level writing wise, the whole modern age dialogue clashes so hard with the addams family aesthetic as well as tim burtons. wednesday’s smart remarks are enjoyable tho so bravo to the writers for that
