There’s something about “Disenchantment.” I don’t think it’s always a great show in terms of humor or writing, but I do always manage to binge it all in one or two sittings. It’s so infectiously easy to watch.
I wish Serializd listed the “seasons” as “parts” like Netflix does because some of the distinctions are kind of unclear. Assuming Season 2 is comprised of Part 3 and 4 though, I definitely preferred 4 (which I just finished) to its predecessor (which I watched when it came out). Part 3 was bogged down a lot by the main cast being separated for such a long period and it never really picked the momentum back up when they reunited. Things are better in P4 though - both in terms of individual plotlines and full cast adventures.
One of the saving graces of Part 3 was the mermaid episode though, which I was pleasantly surprised to see play a fairly large role in Part 4. Finishing P3 I was sort of disenchanted with the future of “Disenchantment,” but following the ending of this part I’m excited to see where they go with the characters in the future.
Kind of shocked that Netflix has let this series run as long as it has given I never see people talking about it, but I guess Matt Groening has that name and style recognition power with “The Simpsons” and “Futurama.”
