While it might paint me in a bad light admitting this, Neon Genesis Evangelion is my favorite piece of art of all time. I don’t even have any nostalgia bias in saying this, my first watch was in 2017 when I was 19 years old. Eva is a show with so many moving pieces and lore that I feel I might never fully comprehend it, but that’s okay. What I do understand has resonated with me in a way that has caused a profound impact on my view of the world and myself, and not a lot of fiction can do that to me. It really is something that gets better with every watch, and I’d really recommend watching it through at least twice just to have a better understanding of it.
