So much time wasting for an introduction, I can already tell the pacing is gonna be both drawn out and rushed just like S1.
Every Ellie scene was immersion breaking, the dialogue was terrible. It just looks like she’s acting and this goes with almost every character in the show. It’s the deadest horse in existence but cmon, I was indifferent to it in S1 but now it’s a scene killer every time she’s on screen.
Just like S1 I hate how clean everything looks. It’s just immersion breaking and I hate it.
Joel expressing his feelings should’ve been to Tommy. I’m 100% supportive of therapy but I think the “don’t tell anyone I’m going to therapy” line is overboard. This isn’t Joel, this is Pedro Pascal in cosplay
The argument of “realistic teenagers” is not it, the development of these “kids” shouldn’t be like the real world. I don’t mind a lighter tone to start but this was overboard, it looks like fans trying to act in cosplay. I also blame the writers because why is Ellie such a jerk still. How is she still so incompetent and already got bit
Speaking of acting it was overall mediocre, especially Abby’s friend who seemed like an amateur
Pedro Pascal was just not the best choice for Joel. The transition from game Joel to S2 Joel would’ve hit really hard but S1 Joel was already a sad sombre guy. Going from sad Joel to sad but old Joel is just meh and not effective
Joel is a sad grandpa now which I kinda like, might be an effective change. You know what I think it’s a good choice for the show
Anyways I’ve kinda given up on the Joel and Ellie side of the adaptation it’s just not good. Their relationship was butchered in the show with pacing problems, it’s just not there. Not even 10% of what the game and this kinda kills most of the emotion of what the story will bring
Regarding the Abby side of the story they have a chance to execute it well and I’m excited to see it. This is quite literally the opposite of what I thought of the games.
Best scene was literally the beginning with Abby, really good casting. Her delivery of the “slowly” dialogue is really effective I’m like damn. I can tell that she’s gonna CARRY the show now that they’ve made plot changes.
Abby’s admittance of wanting to kill Joel slowly had better acting than the entire rest of the runtime. It’s infuriating how everyone else is immersion breaking outside of Abby.
The infected are perfection as always, this goes for the props and sets too
