Poster for The Last of Us
Just started rewatching The Last of Us with @samu_7 just before the new season comes out. I swear this show is better on a rewatch, there are more details you notice and there is more appreciation for the show for what it is. This show isn’t all gory and action packed like TWD is, although it has a fair bit of action. I feel like this show is equally a show about loss, relationships and how tragedies like these affect the people that are “lucky” enough to live through them. Watching this show having been through covid gives you a different feeling than watching post apocalyptic shows that came before covid. It makes you more aware that anything can happen, and its makes it easier to watch and actually imagine being put in this position. I keep thinking, what if this would happen to me? It doesn’t help that the show’s premise is an airborne virus that spreads. After watching this I kinda want to watch the gameplay. Maybe after s2 I will, I don’t wanna be spoilt tho. I checked reddit @3Suspect and wowwwww the amount of hate there was shocking. People calling Bella ugly and justifying it, like that’s ever okay. Society has such a skewed view of women. What if she was their daughter? She’s just a normal looking girl. Thats what most teenage girls look like without makeup, filters, tan, colored hair or injections. And why are you sexualising a kid? Why does she have to be pretty for U? Makes my blood boil This show is its own masterpiece, away from the game. I also don’t get why people always want a carbon copy of things. If u already played the game why would you wanna watch it again? Fanbases often take things too far I love the beginning of this show, its so mysterious and everything just happens so suddenly without explanation, almost like were going through the disaster with them in real time. It’s probably so fun to go blind into this show, without having seen the video game. The scientist talking about the dangers of the fungi was daunting. ,,And if that happens?’’ ,,We loose” So, a scary fact if anyone doesn’t know. There is actually a fungus called Ophiocordyceps, that this show is based on. It infects and kills insects, particularly ants. It’s a parasitic fungus that takes control of the ant’s central nervous system, causing it to climb vegetation before it dies. The fungus then grows out of the ant's head and releases spores to infect other ants. Fungus is really a scary thing which makes this show all that more daunting. Like the scientist said ,,fungi can alter our very minds”. I have personally experienced living in a house with fungus and it definitely affected my mind and I honestly got a bit crazy. After moving away from it I felt like I got rid of an entity that had been driving me nuts without even realising it. ~~~ SPOILERS ~~~ Poor Sarah🥺 it’s always hard seeing her. Her face takes you right back to the video game. Almost like I’m watching someone play it. The calm before the storm is always so unsettling when you know what’s about to hit. I love Pedro Pascal in this show. There’s just something about him.. He’s so masculine, a little mysterious but has a kind heart and is a good father♥️ I tend to be drawn to guys that are a little emotionally unavailable I must admit Sarah is such a beautiful girl, a great actress and her hair is gorgeous. Her intuition is screaming at her that something’s wrong. We should always listen to it. The first scene with the old lady is the creepiest thing, also reminds me of the game, used to watch the gameplay late at night scared af😭 This is what my fears are made of. Being in an old home, turning my back for a second and something sinister transpiring behind me. I pray I never have to wake up like Sarah did in my life, thank you god🙏🏻 When animals start acting strange is when you know you should be scared Imagine watching that old lady feasting on someone’s neck… traumatized for life Sarah’s death has to be one of the saddest deaths, why you gotta do me like that?!😭 I lowkey had to skip it. Way too heartbreaking watching Joel go through that. The worst thing I can think of is watching someone die in front of you. Watching THEM realize they are done for. Can’t imagine just having to accept that you’re about to die now, so sudden. Boston looks so awesome 20 years later. My favorite genre is post apocolyptic stuff. It’s so fascinating to see different versions of what the world could become. And all the nature that grows into the houses is so pretty. We have strayed way too far from nature and maybe that’s why Gaia takes back the rains and makes some stuff like this happen? In fact one could argue that shows like this are showing us just how powerful nature can be. At any second it could really humble all the egotistical people who think they have achieved ultimate power. The change in Joel after the 20 years is so apparent. You can see the coldness and emotion swept away from his face. That’s what happens through hard times and loss, you get disconnected from your emotions and past, hence him being able to throw the body of a child into the fire with little to no emotion. Joel is the best brother. Sexy af. I think Ellie’s introduction is badass tbh Love getting nostalgic memories from the game like when they locked her in the room while talking and she begins examining everything in the room Ellie commenting on the watch🥺 That PTSD scene with Joel and the cop was brutal oh man Btw if anyone wants to watch a similar show but more of a slow burn I recommend Station Eleven. It also focuses on the people and connection post apocalyptic imo.
