I think season 1 of Severance is really, really good, engaging television. Season 2 had me engaged for a while, but around episode 7 it lost me a bit and I don't think it ever fully recovered for me.
The show has a running start and then has 2... Not bottle episodes, but kind of bottle episodes? Which takes away the momentum, and it just doesn't get back to where you want it to be.
It's not a bad season of television by any means, but maybe the novelty has worn off? Or maybe the answers we're getting just aren't satisfying? Watching the first season, I was worried this might end up like the X-Files, where it has an interesting mystery to start, but as it goes on it becomes clearer and clearer that they don't actually know where they're going and are just making it up as it goes along, and this season didn't exactly assuage that worry. There's many questions I have that I'm really worried won't be answered, which would certainly sour this show.
Anyway I love these characters, especially Helly and Cobel, and I still really want to see where it goes. I had a lot of fun watching this! I guess I'm just a little disappointed after season 1, which was so unique and fascinating, where this doesn't quite hit the same.
