Quite possibly a contender for one of the all-time great K-dramas, When Life Gives You Tangerines may have been marketed as a period romance starring IU and Park Bo-Gum, but it soon reveals itself to be a story with even bigger emotional ambitions.
Simultaneously epic and intimate, this paints a vivid picture of love and family against the canvas of modern South Korean history. There are swoonsome romantic moments, but it's the tender depiction of love against history and the increasing speed of time and inevitable loss that gives it so much power and a genuine air of heartfelt tenderness.
The best K-drama of 2025 and a contender for best television show of this year too.
