I absolutely adored the last two episodes, mainly because of how well they were handled as an adaptation. The way the gameplay moments were summarized into well-paced sequences while keeping the story intact—down to the finest details—was incredible. Plus, the show’s own little changes added even more depth, making it feel fresh even for longtime fans.

One of the biggest highlights was Ashley Johnson playing Ellie’s mom. My face lit up the second I realized it was her. That was something never shown in the game, and it felt so necessary. It added an emotional weight to Ellie’s existence—showing not just what she means to Marlene but also reinforcing how crucial she is to the cure. Such a great touch.

The hospital sequence? Jaw on the floor. I’ve played the games before, but seeing Joel’s rampage in live-action was mesmerizing. The way he abandoned all morals just to save Ellie was brutal yet completely in character. One of the things I love about The Last of Us (both the show and the second game) is how it forces you to re-evaluate Joel’s morality. Watching this, I actually felt bad for the doctors and soldiers—people who were trying to save the world, and Joel took that away. Even knowing what’s coming in season 2, I already feel bad for Abby.

I cannot wait for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in season 2. They delivered one of the best dynamics in the history of media, hands down. Their performances were phenomenal, and I just know they’re going to absolutely crush what’s coming next.
