Fargo (2014)
Just as good as the very first season, but not too sure if better. A much more ambitious season, is what I'd call this one. Whereas S1 only goes as far as to have two main plot-lines (Lester & Malvo's) with their respective sub-plots, S2 goes farther than that. This time, we got: a full family syndicate with their own jerarchy, a Kansas Crime organization made to response against the Gerhardt's story, a married couple having to deal with the fact that they got themselves roped between criminals and bullets, and the coming back of Season 1's loving father, Lou Solverson, as we witness what bewitched in Sioux Falls back in 1979. It may seem like it's way too much for a single season, however, I think this season treats each and every sub-plot with the importance it needs. There isn't one thing that seems to be left open, and all of them carry on until the very ending, with one of my favorite climaxes in a TV Season. It has some wonderful characters as well, my personal favorite being Mike Milligan, O Hanzee Dent, Lou Solverson, Peggy Blumquist and Bear & Simone Gerhardt. However, as much as I love this season, I feel that, in the search of being grandiloquent, may perhaps fall a little bit flat in comparison to the first season when it comes to its conclusion. Now, am I saying that the finale of S2 is bad? No, not at all. I loved it, and to me, it's in full Brother Coen's style, even if it seems way out of touch at first, but after you remember you're watching Fargo, and, more importante, a Brother Coen's production, you understand that the fine line between mundane, craziness, out of proportion and unconvential subversion of expectations is the norm. So? I think it's great. I think S1 is a bit better due to it feeling much more narrowed and well-closed off, while S2 may not have that feeling. That, plus a plot-twist regarding Hanzee Dent in the ending is a major grip that sets this season back a bit, but still, it's nothing but an amazing season and has nothing to envy S1.
