just really fucking incredible stuff i know it's only march but it's hard to think another show this year is gonna top this just absolutely impeccably made the one shot stuff just blows my mind i think it's super important that this show was made by a group of middle aged men i don't want to applaud them for doing the bare minimum but equally this is a dire situation and men do need to stand up and have these conversations it cannot just be on women and as we are seeing from the response to the show not only do men not want to speak about it the mere suggestion of the problem enrages them beyond belief i know there's a few people who didn't like the pov of the show and felt it should have focused on the victim not the perpetrator but i very much disagree when u have shows like these that are meant to be educational tools u have to look at who it was made by and who it was made for and in this case men is the answer for both in reality perpetrators of violence are very rarely focused on in this manner showing the affect on their families actually properly talking about what went wrong and what signs are missed are things people tend to shy away from and i think we're already seeing how this show doing the opposite is largely what makes it so powerful and such a conversation starter and that's incredibly important also imo i feel like they would have been quite out of their depth writing from the victims pov and given it was inspired by numerous irl murders of teen girls i worry it could have veered into true crime sensationalism territory i generally felt the ways they portrayed the victim especially through music was incredibly respectful and powerful. obviously have to mention the beyond incredible cast i will genuinely riot if they don't get the awards they deserve and owen cooper just woah genuinely one of the greatest child actors ive ever watched and this was his first ever time on a set! i hope one of the many things this show highlights for people is the immense talent they miss out on when they ignore the working class only 8% of the uk entertainment industry is made up of those from working class backgrounds it is quite frankly a miracle(named stephen graham lol) that we are getting to witness owen's talent because if the greater entertainment industry had it their way we'd never know his name someone's talent is never less worthy or impactful because they grew up on a council estate instead of a stately home and i hope people start to remember that again
