Everything for Heleny. Oh how romantic.
Video messages, a love letter, a marching band and a baby goat.
Inspired and loaded, Stiller’s fantastic storytelling from start to finish is purely cinematic. Mark talking to himself is rich in ethical and philosophical layers while Dylan’s letter is a juxtaposition of Mark’s conundrum but still as heartbreaking. Helena saying goodbye is a beautiful moment that encapsulates the souls of the innies.
The Milkchik under the spotlight talking to a wax figure and then dancing to a marching band? Just unnerving and completely unhinged. A brilliant touch that set the action-filled and intense second half.
Mark S fighting a huge Mr Drummond only to be helped by Gwendoline Christie and then later on drenched in Drummond’s blood is Severance at its most violent (so far) A spectacular show of action and thriller until Mark and Gemma reunites in four different modes/versions. A conflicting end to a mind-blowing season with Mark running with Helly E to a 70s needle drop shot in film. Chef’s kiss.
Captivating but not really a perfect episode in its writing — I thought it’s so focused on the Gemma and Mark reunion which is really what’s setup in the season 1 finale. BUT if anything, that just tells me so much more questions are gonna be answered next season especially why Mark and Gemma?
